HEAD COACH JACK BEESLEY GIVES HIS ABERDEEN POST MATCH THOUGHTS & LOOKS AHEAD TO DUNDEE UNITED ON WEDNESDAY EVENING

15 April 2025

So Jack that’s three wins in a row it was a hard fought battle what’s your thoughts on the game?

”The exact game we knew it would be – two evenly-matched teams desperate to win the game. Could have gone either way but obviously we’re delighted we’ve came out on top, something we haven’t done enough this season when it comes to 50/50 games. I thought the girls showed real fight, spirit and determination to get a positive result. At times it wasn’t the prettiest from us but today was about making decisions with and without the ball that would give us the best chance of winning the game, and I thought in the main the players did well”.

We always talk about it but that was such a team performance – four different goal scorers and the substitutions having a positive impact. How proud are you of the team’s performance from the start of the game to the final whistle?

”We know that it’s the collective that brings us success. Another game where people will be disappointed not to start, but it’s another game where the players coming on make a positive difference and give us fresh impetus at key times. The work rate and effort from this team this season has never been in question. Every session and every game they give absolutely everything they have, but the last game against Montrose, winning from behind, has given everyone huge confidence to keep going in every match, and we saw that again today. But as well as the work rate, we saw some real quality moments, especially at the top end of the pitch”.

It’s been a busy week with Hannah Jordan getting her first cap for SWNT U23s, Olivia and Cacee away with the SWNT U19’s and Olivia signing her first professional contract with Hearts for next season. How proud are you that young players are getting these opportunities?

”Yes a busy week, and proud moments for us to see individual success for our players. But the players deserve it because even though it’s individual success, it’s players who put the team before themselves. As all our players do. Successful teams need strong individuals. But for individuals to have success they have to be part of a strong team. And that’s what we have. Hannah has been excellent this season and fully deserved a long-overdue call-up. CaCee – her second call-up this season, having never been in a Scotland age-group squad prior. And Olivia fully deserved her contract at Hearts, and is a perfect example of what a loan should be about – a hungry and talented young player buying completely into life at their loan club, and a club showing trust in a young player and giving them the platform to show their qualities”.

We now have a quick turn around with Dundee United visiting the Vanloq Community Stadium on Wednesday evening. What’s your thoughts going onto this fixture and how do you prepare for three games in seven days?

We fully expect a difficult game on Wednesday evening. The previous match against Dundee United was probably our most dominant performance of the season, but we know that won’t be the case again. They had a difficult result on Sunday which saw them relegated and will be desperate to restore some pride and positivity in the remainder of the season. And as we well know this season, having been on receiving end of some sore defeats, it’s always difficult to play a team when you’ve done so well last time. So it’s a massive game for us and one we’ll have to play really well in to try and get a positive result”.
