30 June 2026

Jack Beesley’s line-up of returnees is completed with confirmation that Emily Cadell and Emma McMurdo have put pen to paper for SPWPL 1 duty this season.

Emily Cadell

After a challenging debut season at Spartans for Emily, Head Coach Jack Beesley knows there’s so much to look forward to in the year ahead; “Although Emily missed a large part of the season through injury, everyone could see in the final months the quality she brings.

She’s versatile, powerful, and gets in great scoring positions, and we hope will be someone who can contribute with goals and assists. We look forward this season to seeing her build on the substantial potential she has.”

Excited for the new challenge, Emily said, “I’m delighted to sign another contract at Spartans on the back of such an amazing season. I’m very excited to continue my journey here and further build on my development and confidence gained over the last year. I’m really looking forward to the season ahead and helping the team achieve our targets and meeting the new challenges in SPWPL 1.”

Emma McMurdo

The ScoAussie who joined the club last season clocked up 25 appearances in her inaugural campaign and is back for more.

Speaking of Emma’s decision to remain the Capital, Head Coach Jack Beesley said, “For someone who has barely kicked a ball for a couple seasons due to injury, I was delighted with Emma’s contribution last season. With another full pre-season I’m sure she will continue to become sharper, fitter and more consistent, to complement her clear technical quality and desire to win. Welcome back Emma!”

An experienced midfielder who spent several years in the Australian Elite National Training Centre, Emma was delighted to be back. “I’m buzzing to re-sign with Spartans. Last season was unreal – winning the league and getting promoted made all the hard work worth it. The girls are an amazing bunch and have become my family away from home. I’m excited to see what we can achieve this season and keen to make an impact on the pitch to help the team have another successful year.”
