The 2026-27 squad is nicely taking shape and we are excited to announce our latest returnees for the forthcoming season.
Back in the mix for SPWPL1 are Hannah Cunningham and Lauren McDonald.
Hannah Cunningham
Head Coach Jack Beesley spoke of his delight as securing the highly respected defender’s services for the new season. “Hannah was a revelation for us last season, deservedly being voted our Players’ POTY. We know SPWPL1 will bring an increase in intensity, physicality and combativeness, and Hannah is a player who certainly has all that.
“Although not with Spartans, she’s another who has SPWPL1 experience, and her attitude and leadership qualities will be really important”
Seeking to build on her inaugural year at the Club, Hannah said, “I’m delighted to be staying for another year at Spartans. Last year was an unbelievable season and I’ve loved my time here at the club. All the girls and staff have made me feel welcome from day 1, so it was an easy decision to stay.
“I’m really grateful to Jack for giving me the opportunity, it’s exciting to be playing top tier football again this season and I can’t wait to hit the ground running.”

Lauren McDonald
Head Coach Jack Beesley noted of the talented teenager’s return to the Vanloq Community Stadium; “We’re looking forward to Lauren rejoining us after spending the second half of last season on loan at Stenhousemuir, where she developed and performed really well.
“Clearly it’s a big jump to SWPL1 but Lauren continued training with us during her loan spell and we’re hopeful she’ll be able to come in and compete for a place.”
Academy Graduate Lauren added, “Spartans is where I want to be and I’m excited to sign for another season, and super happy to be back training with the girls and coaches.
“I had a strong end to the season on loan at Stenhousemuir and I want to continue that form into pre-season at Spartans and fight for a place in the team.”
