Vacancy – Matchday Physiotherapist

The Spartans Women’s Football Club who play in SWPL 2 are looking for a part-time Physiotherapist or Graduate Sports Therapist to join the team on matchday. Reporting to the Head Coach the role will be leading and managing the physiotherapy provision to the team.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a fantastic club with great facilities.

Role accountabilities & key duties:

  1. To promote and protect the health and wellbeing of all Players.
  2. Ensure medical / physiotherapy cover at all first team matches.
  3. Ensure that the performance of all players is optimised through effective, timely and appropriate medical intervention against rehabilitation plans.
  4. To maintain accurate and updated medical records in accordance with applicable legislation, protocols and guidelines.
  5. Provide physiotherapy input, as part of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team, in consultation with the Head Coach.
  6. To maintain focus of injured players and their rehabilitation pathway, whilst ensuring open communication is maintained with all involved in the rehabilitation process.
  7. To identify and use the latest and most effective physiotherapy/medical research in order to implement the highest standards of clinical assessment and treatment.

The ideal candidate will require:

  • Membership of a nationally recognised professional physiotherapy or sports therapy association
  • A physiotherapy or sports therapy degree from any nationally recognised institution with right to work in the UK
  • Up to date record of continuous professional development
  • Previous experience working as a physiotherapist or sports therapist in a sporting environment
  • To be highly motivated, possess exceptional communication skills, have a passion for working in professional football and possess the drive and enthusiasm to strive for excellence. 
  • Must hold a UK valid driver’s licence

Matchday is a Sunday afternoon with the occasional Wednesday evening game.  The season runs from late July to mid May.  The successful candidate will be required to either be available for almost all matches OR be willing to be a partner in a 50:50 job share with one of the current Spartans Sports Therapists. 

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Check.

Matchday Salary: tbc, financial support will also be given for further training and development.
