Signing News: Liamara Hensel-Burg out to earn her spurs at Spartans

29 August 2025

Jack Beesley has strengthened his goalkeeping ranks by securing the services of former Tottenham Hotspur Academy stopper Liamara Hensel-Burg.

Liamara’s goalkeeping journey saw her don the gloves at Haringey Academy until she turned 16 when she dual signed with Spurs.  During her time with their Under 21s, Liamara dual-signed with Haringey Borough Women before returning solely to the North London outfit.

Speaking of the signing, Spartans Manager Jack Beesley said.  “We are delighted to welcome Liamara to Spartans, and to the City of Edinburgh.

“After the departure of Emma Thomson to Hearts, we have been looking to bring in another goalkeeper to challenge Alicia for the number 1 spot. After training with us for a period, it was clear Liamara is a very capable and confident goalkeeper, with experience in competitive environments.

“Whilst we have young Keira Hughes, the best thing for Keira’s development at this point is to go out on loan to play regular 1st team football, so to be able to bring Liamara in gives us an appropriate situation for all 3 of our goalkeepers.

“We look forward to welcoming Liamara and seeing her in a Spartans jersey”

Speaking of her move to North Edinburgh, Liamara said, “I’m so excited to have signed for Spartans.  I was really impressed by the sense of community this team has and the potential for the season ahead.  I can’t wait to get started!”
