Signing News: Emma McMurdo joins Jack’s squad for new season

16 July 2025

The Spartans continue their summer recruitment campaign with signing of experienced midfielder Emma McMurdo.

Emma joins from Motherwell following spells at Dundee United, Kilmarnock and Queen’s Park.

McMurdo, who kicked-off her footballing journey in Australia after her family emigrated to Perth when she was only eight, spent several years in the elite National Training Centre before plying her trade with Perth Soccer Club for two years in the second tier of the Australian women’s competition.

Manager Jack Beesley is delighted to welcome Emma to the Club, “We are pleased to welcome Emma to Spartans this season. Emma’s quality is clear to see but she has struggled for consistency since rupturing her ACL a few seasons ago.

“We hope that with a full pre-season under her belt and a desire to show her ability in a new environment, Emma can offer another strong midfield option, able to play as a 6, 8 or 10. She also brings a will to win and a demand of standards which we feel will complement our dressing room well.”

Speaking of her move to the Capital, Emma added,  “I’m very proud and excited to sign for Spartans. It’s a club with a strong history and a clear passion for developing the women’s game.

“I’m keen to make an impact on the pitch and help the team have a successful season. This is a great environment to challenge myself, grow as a player, and be part of a squad that sets high standards and works hard for each other to achieve something special this season.”
