Player News: Ronaigh, Eilidh and Sarah return for 2026-27

24 June 2026

The Spartans are delighted to confirm a further hat-trick of players are returning for the 2026-27 campaign.

Ronaigh Douglas:

After creating history last season, Ronaigh returns for her 14th year as a Senior player with the team.

Head Coach Jack Beesley spoke of his delight at the club stalwart returning for 2026-27.

“Like a fine wine, Ronaigh seems to get better with age! She was almost an ever-present again last season, and once again showed remarkable consistency in every match. Her calmness, composure and the example she sets in every session should be a blueprint of what being a Spartan is about.

Her experience will be invaluable for us this season, and we look forward to seeing her increase her record number of appearances”

Speaking of extending her incredible service in the heart of the Spartans midfield, Ronaigh said,

“Another year, another opportunity. This club has given me so many special memories, and I’m excited to continue the journey for another season.”

Eilidh Davies:

We are delighted to announce Eilidh Davies has put pen to paper for the return to SWPL 1.

Eilidh brought up her half century of appearances in April and her ability to stick leather through laces to unleash unstoppable strikes has been a pleasure to see.

Speaking about Eilidh’s return, Jack Beesley noted, “I think Eilidh was one of our most improved players last season, showing more consistency in possession, playing more forward passes, and chipping in with some important goals. She’s a brilliant teammate, and another who has experienced both the pain of relegation and the high of promotion, so that resilience will be important this season. We look forward to seeing her add to her 50+ appearances!”

Looking to add to her 54 appearances and increasing her goal tally, Eilidh said,

“It was an easy decision for me to sign, for my third year at Spartans. I’ve loved the last two years here and feel I’ve really developed as a player, which I’m excited to hopefully continue into SWPL1 next season. I think our biggest strength this year was the togetherness of the team, so I had no doubts when deciding to be part of that again this year, and continuing to improve with this group.”

Sarah Clelland:

With an incredible 251 appearances under her belt spanning over 11 seasons, The Spartans are delighted to announce Sarah Clelland is back!

A popular and highly respected player on and off the pitch, we’re thrilled to have Sarah sign up for another year in Spartans colours.

Head Coach Jack Beesley noted, “Despite Sarah’s injury on the last day of the season, her celebrations showed what this club means to her. She continues to be an unbelievable servant to us, and both on and off the pitch perfectly embodies our Spartans values. She’s another player with vast SWPL1 experience for Spartans, and that will be so important for us as we move into a very challenging season”

An ebullient Clelland spoke of her excitement at continuing at the Club.

“I am absolutely delighted to sign for another season at this special club. To win the league and get the club back to where it belongs is something that I’ll never forget. Anyone who knows me knows how much Spartans means to me and to be able to continue playing for them for my 12th season is something I’m extremely proud of. It’s not just a club it’s a family and I’m excited to see what next season holds for this unbelievable group of players.”
