Join us on Sunday as Spartans stalwart reaches club record milestone

Spartans stalwart Ronaigh Douglas is set to break the Club’s appearance record this week as she becomes the first player to represent the North Edinburgh club in 273 competitive fixtures.

After first pulling on the white and red of Spartans whilst in Primary 1, Ronaigh progressed through the Spartans Girls Academy player pathway into the u17s, before making made her competitive debut for the Senior side at the age of just 15, coming off the bench in a 2-1 victory over Hamilton Accies in March 2014.

Her first start came just a month down the line in a narrow loss on the road to Celtic however it was the perfect and reward for Ronaigh’s dogged determination to play in the Senior team.

The talented midfielder scored her first senior goal almost a year later, coming in the league game against Hutchison Vale in April 2015.

During this incredible period with Spartans Ronaigh received recognition for her endeavours with a call up to the Scotland u19s set up and at club level, she earned the ultimate praise from her peers by securing the Players’ Player of the Year award for season 22/23.

Ronaigh has been a mainstay here at Spartans since the age of just five years old. And now the 27-year-old stalwart is set to play her 273rd game this coming Sunday in the first SPWPL 2 game of the new year against St Johnstone.
