Emma Thomson is a Spartan ⚪🔴

The Spartans Football Club are thrilled to secure the signature of SWNT U17’s Goal Keeper Emma Thomson for the forthcoming SWPL 1 campaign. Thomson, a prodigy of Hamilton Academical Womens Football Club youth setup, joins Spartans after 15 SWPL 1 appearances last season and winning SWPL Player of the Month in February 2024.

Thomson couldn’t hide her delight at finally putting pen to paper for Spartans: “I am delighted to be signing for Spartans. When I met with Jack he shared his vision for the team and the ambitions Spartans have over the coming years. I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad and becoming a part of the Spartans GK Union.”

Head of Goalkeeping at Spartans Women, Colin Osborne said: “I’m really pleased we have secured Emma’s signature. We have monitored Emma’s progress for some time now as she is a highly rated and talented international GK who has a great attitude, focus and willingness to develop and learn.  I’m really looking forward to working with Emma as having another young GK in our goalkeeping union bodes well for the future of the club.”

Our Head Coach Jack Beesley is also delighted to be welcoming Emma to our SWPL Squad: “Emma is someone who was on my radar from playing against her at U18’s age level.  As well as her goalkeeping qualities, she is very mature, driven and self-aware, and has a good level of experience for such a young player. With Emma joining Alicia, we have two of the best young GK’s in the country, both of whom the staff and players fully trust to play in any game against any opponent. Under Colin’s tutelage, I’ve no doubt Emma’s development will continue and we look forward to watching her grow over the next two years with us.”

Welcome to Spartans Emma 🙌
