Spartans looked to get their first three points off the season, welcoming Aberdeen, returning to Ainslie Park off the back of a draw at Meadowbank.

It was a quick start for the hosts as Galbraith broke the Aberdeen back line and fired the ball past Kirby and into the back of the net. Not to be as the linesman flagged for offside and we remained goalless with only two minutes on the clock. Spartans had majority of the ball in the opening 15 minutes, however it would be the visitors to break the deadlock.

Hannah Stewart had a strike from distance sail past Harrison into the top corner, a fine finish to give the visitors the lead. The Dons would waste no time in getting their second of the afternoon, just two minutes later they would have their second. Hutchison picking the ball up in the midfield and again Lancaster’s side would fire a long distance effort into the back of the net.

Just moments after, Galbraith would be sent through one on one with Kirby in the Aberdeen net, closing in on goal the striker’s effort brushed past the post and the side would retain their two goal advantage. Robinson would be next up to have a shot but her long range effort straight at Kirby. Galbraith would again have her effort well matched by the Aberdeen ‘keeper, Kirby spilled at first attempt but collected from the feet of the striker at second attempt.

Galbraith had the ball in the back of the net for the second time in the game, once again ruled out by the linesman, not to be for the striker. A minute later it would be Aberdeen who had another goal, a ball played in behind the Spartans back line caused indecision leaving Hutchison to tap home her second.

The game would turn out a fiery affair for the last 30 minutes of the game, with chances few and far between for both sides as Aberdeen looked to maintain their advantage.
